3D Design

Introduction - 3D Design

After many years working as a graphic artist and designer I wanted to go back to college and get a degree. I choose a Multimedia Arts degree offered by ITT-Technical Institute called Digital Entertainment and Game Design. Due to my experience I was able to earn my B.S. Degree in three years graduating with highest honors. During this time I began to learn 3D software such as Autodesk's 3dsMax and about gaming engines such as the Unreal Tournament gaming engine. Combining my 3D modeling skills, my Photoshop Skills, and using the UT2004 gaming engine I was able to put together 3D game levels which you can play as a character.

I also put these skills to other uses, such as building realistic 3D models of cell phones and animating them in order to create product commercials for a wireless company.

Below are some samples of my 3D Design work. Upon request, a high-res demo-reel DVD can be provided which contains a 3 min movie presentation of my work. *Please note that in order to show you video clips below, I have compressed these files down from 200 meg to 394(kb). As a result the quality of the images in the below video clips have been greatly reduced.

Wireless Cell Phone Commercials

BlackBerry

Working as a free agent for the CEO of Hello Mobile, he asked me if I could put together some DVD commercials of their cell phone products which they could play on the flat screen TVs in their chain of wireless stores. I created the models using 3dsMax and textured them with Photoshop using box photographs taken of the phones. I then shot animation sequences of the phones and imported these to Flash, where I put together a full presentation of their wireless packages. I then used a converter program that converted flash files to DVD file format.

Zentec - The Lost Temple City

The Lost City of Zentec

The Lost City of Zentec is a level concept for part of an action adventure game. It features a beautiful temple and fighting arena that has a cross between Aztec and Greek architecture. The whole city is surrounded by ancient stone walls and is set in the background of a rich jungle environment complete with particle waterfalls. I used 3dsMax, Photoshop, and the UT2004 gaming engine. All of this is 100% Original work by myself from models and textures to level design and lighting. The above is an actual screen shot inside taken from inside the UT2004 game engine. Below are the 3dsMax models for the temple and the fighting arena. You can also watch a small short video by clicking the link provided below.

The Pirate Cove

Ship - Pirate Cove

The Pirate Cove is also a level concept for the same action adventure game as the Lost City of Zentec. This island once was part of the ship trading route until pirates took over the island and it has now become a remote island. It features a beautiful pirate ship beached by low tide in an island cove surrounded by fort-style buildings. Used 3ds Max, Photoshop, and the UT2004 gaming engine. 100% Original work by me from models and textures to level design and lighting. The above is an actual screen shot inside taken from inside the UT2004 game engine. Below are the 3dsMax models of the pirate ship. Combustion Down

Combustion Down Oil Rig and Bridge

Combustion Down was UT2004 demo release of an action pack assault and death match on a bridge and oil rig off the coast. The game takes place 30 years after a global nuclear war over oil. As a result all the environment and models were textured to portray decaying and rusted out bits of what remains mankind's former way of life. As part of a 3 man dev team, I fulfilled numerous roles in the project to include: Production Manager, Asst. Level Designer, 3D Environmental Artist, and Cinematics. I also designed and created the www.combustiondown.com website.

Characters

Herre are a few cartoon characters I have made.

CGTalk's UGAC Contest. I entered this bot character into the space western theme. His job is to follow the sheriff around and do his bidding as they serve justice to the remote parts of the galaxy.
